May 2024 - Portland

I was in charge of our anniversary this year and surprised Kyle with a long weekend in Oregon.  We spent the first day in Portland, day 2 hiking Multnomah Falls, and day 3 on the coast.  We did a food tour in Portland that had 12 courses from different ethnic restaurants and food carts.  We were blown away by how lush and green it was in Oregon.

Todd & Melissa watched the kids while we were gone and they took everyone swimming!

For Alexa's birthday she really wanted a double piercing.  We decided to go to a tattoo and piercing parlor instead of Claire's because I've heard it's a better, safer, cleaner way to pierce.  The workers were so cute and awkward having a "kid" in the shop.  All of the employees were covered in tattoos and piercings and were telling each other to watch their language because there were children present.  And one yelled at another employee to change the music from heavy metal so he awkwardly changed it to Disney haha.

For her birthday party Alexa had friends over to watch Guardians of the Galaxy.

The kids finished school just before Memorial Day.  Liam said, "I had to say goodbye to Mrs Knight because she’s going to retire because she’s been teaching kindergarten for 36 years. But she is my forever friend."  He looooooved kindergarten and she was wonderful!

Audrey is completely obsessed with the chickens.  She goes out everyday and talks to them outside their coop.  And she loses her mind when we open the door and let her go in to be with them.

She also loves to just chill with / sit on Roxy the dog.  And chase Jane the cat around the house while yelling "Meow meow!  Meooooowwww!!!"

Tyler had to pick a famous person for his Wax Museum at school and he chose Nikola Tessla.  He researched him a lot, made a cool poster, and dressed up just like him--especially the hair.

Other fun happenings:

Tyler made the D&D symbol with his 3D pen and gave it to Kyle for his birthday. Such a cool, thoughtful gift!

Tad LOOOOVES the cute paint kits we get from My Little Paintbrush

Liam keeps losing his teeth!

May is always a crazy time with the end of the school year and brief overlap between spring soccer (Tad & Liam), softball (Tyler, Tad, Liam), now track & field (Alexa), and softball (Alexa).  Lots of running around!  We also had a baseball smash our van window.  A fly ball did some terrible damage to our van in the parking lot.  And our neighbor who is Tyler's age accidentally hit a golf ball through our front window, so it has been an expensive month for new windows in our house!

Here are some videos of some great baseball / softball hits:

Kyle got tickets to a lantern festival in Salt Lake and there were 10,000 people there (!!).  We honestly struggled to get our lanterns to float but the overall experience was incredible.

Lastly, the boys are on a serious Wierd Al kick and listen to his parodies All. The. Time.

Funny quotes:

Liam, pointing to Montana on a map. “Look, it’s Motunui. That’s where Moana lives. It’s right next to Idaho.”

Liam (whispering): I have a crush on Lily. Don't tell anyone. It's a secret! I'm going to marry her when I grow up.

Me: you can't marry Lily. She is your cousin. You have to marry someone who isn't in your family so you can start a new family.

Liam: Hmm. Ok. I think I'll marry Audrey then.

stairs and a silly little girl....

I forgot to mention a few August updates in my last post, and have some more Alexa stories (as always)...First, Kyle (with the help of Uncle Paul and Todd--thank you!!) finished the stairs and they look awesome!!  He completely rebuilt them (ripped them down all the way to the drywall). Second, both Kyle and I were supposed to be in this work athletic competition in August, but I had to back out for obvious reasons.  Kyle still did the tennis and basketball tournaments and made me oh so proud.  He even got this funny little basketball trophy for taking third place.  The other tournaments that week included horseshoes, ping pong, foosball, golf, Wii dance, volleyball, and a triathlon. We went to Ikea for breakfast last Saturday (so delicious and cheap!) and bought Alexa a stuffed puppy while we were there.  She now takes it everywhere continuously saying "puppy, puppy, puppy!"  Speaking of the puppy, she even dragged it through toilet water last week.  Yes, you

Good news!

I'm excited to announce that we went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and I now have all my privileges reinstated!! Tear is healed and baby looks good, so we are very grateful.  As promised, I took Alexa to the park to celebrate.  We went swinging and ran around looking for flowers (dandelions). She has to stop and touch every flower she finds :). She insisted that her puppy come along. Maybe because she's a lazy bum and wanted to use him as a pillow!! We didn't get any really good ultrasound pictures from the tech (I should have made special requests!), but we saw lots of baby!  This was the ultrasound (20 weeks) where they check every little thing developing - every section of the brain, spine, chambers of the heart, kidneys, diaphragm, fingers, toes, blood flow, placenta, cord, measurements of head and waist (baby is 4 days bigger than the due date), etc. etc.  It's so fascinating to see all of that already developed and so teeny tiny!!  Baby

April - May 2012

We started out April very busy at work with the Shelf Reliance annual convention up at the Salt Palace.  I stayed up there Thursday morning through Saturday night and ran around making sure things went smoothly with registration, workshops, the AV Team, slide layouts, that the owners actually stopped to eat, etc. etc.  We normally had meetings with the AV Team until 2 in the morning to prep for the next day, and were up early in the morning with the consultants.  It was lots of fun!  The executive team even dressed up as an 80’s band for the final group session and performed some Bon Jovi and Air Supply.  They were in a band together in college, so I think this was like a dream come true.  Luckily, I was fortunate enough to use my amazing musical talent to help make up some lyrics to their songs that had to do with the company.  We also had a FANTASTIC guest speaker, Kris Belcher.  She travels a lot doing motivational speaking, and was phenomenal.  I laughed so hard that I was crying
