June 2024 - Cincinnati Sweeny Reunion & Outbuilding Renters

We had tons of fun at the Sweeny family reunion just outside Cincinnati.  We found some good flight deals so the kids were excited we didn't have to drive haha.  The house we stayed in had an indoor basketball court, outdoor sand volleyball court, a pool, and lots of space for games.  We had a great time.  We flew in early so we spent one night at Grandma and Grandpa Sweeny's house.  It was the first time our 3 youngest have been to their house so that was fun.  We saw lots of baby bunnies running all around their neighborhood, and I was grateful to stop at Yellowwood to see Uncle Ben's grave and Carolyn Guss's house.

One of the days we hiked Hocking Hills and it was other-worldly.  So beautiful.

Nathan was obsessed with Anne and only wanted to hike with her :)

We also spent one afternoon at a local science museum

It was so nice to have everyone together.  It's been 6 years since I've seen Adam & Karen and it was so great to have all of the grandkids there.  Even the college-aged kids and Maria all made it for at least one of the days.  Adam made 3D printed toys and light sabers for all the kids and it was the greatest thing ever.

We didn't fly out until the next day so it was fun to explore Cincinnati and the Baseball Hall of Fame, as well as go to dinner with Karl and Sara.

We walked on a bridge from Ohio to Kentucky

Alexa got to stay an extra week in Indiana with Carra.  They flew to Salt Lake together--the first flight without parents for both of them!  They had fun thrift shopping, swimming, going to movies, playing games, etc.  I picked them up in SLC and we drove Carra to Twin Falls to meet up with some friends in Idaho.

Alexa was gone for Father's Day so we took our annual pics when she got back.

The kids helped work really hard all month to get the outbuilding ready for renters.  I showed videos of our cruise ship on our TV screen and told the kids that we needed their help and would use the rent money to take them on a cruise in January.  It worked!  They were successfully motivated.  Tad even found a quarter on the sidewalk and brought it to me, saying, "I want to give you all my money to go on the cruise."  We got renters in on June 29th!  They are a cute young family with an 8-month old baby.

stairs and a silly little girl....

I forgot to mention a few August updates in my last post, and have some more Alexa stories (as always)...First, Kyle (with the help of Uncle Paul and Todd--thank you!!) finished the stairs and they look awesome!!  He completely rebuilt them (ripped them down all the way to the drywall). Second, both Kyle and I were supposed to be in this work athletic competition in August, but I had to back out for obvious reasons.  Kyle still did the tennis and basketball tournaments and made me oh so proud.  He even got this funny little basketball trophy for taking third place.  The other tournaments that week included horseshoes, ping pong, foosball, golf, Wii dance, volleyball, and a triathlon. We went to Ikea for breakfast last Saturday (so delicious and cheap!) and bought Alexa a stuffed puppy while we were there.  She now takes it everywhere continuously saying "puppy, puppy, puppy!"  Speaking of the puppy, she even dragged it through toilet water last week.  Yes, you

Good news!

I'm excited to announce that we went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and I now have all my privileges reinstated!! Tear is healed and baby looks good, so we are very grateful.  As promised, I took Alexa to the park to celebrate.  We went swinging and ran around looking for flowers (dandelions). She has to stop and touch every flower she finds :). She insisted that her puppy come along. Maybe because she's a lazy bum and wanted to use him as a pillow!! We didn't get any really good ultrasound pictures from the tech (I should have made special requests!), but we saw lots of baby!  This was the ultrasound (20 weeks) where they check every little thing developing - every section of the brain, spine, chambers of the heart, kidneys, diaphragm, fingers, toes, blood flow, placenta, cord, measurements of head and waist (baby is 4 days bigger than the due date), etc. etc.  It's so fascinating to see all of that already developed and so teeny tiny!!  Baby

April - May 2012

We started out April very busy at work with the Shelf Reliance annual convention up at the Salt Palace.  I stayed up there Thursday morning through Saturday night and ran around making sure things went smoothly with registration, workshops, the AV Team, slide layouts, that the owners actually stopped to eat, etc. etc.  We normally had meetings with the AV Team until 2 in the morning to prep for the next day, and were up early in the morning with the consultants.  It was lots of fun!  The executive team even dressed up as an 80’s band for the final group session and performed some Bon Jovi and Air Supply.  They were in a band together in college, so I think this was like a dream come true.  Luckily, I was fortunate enough to use my amazing musical talent to help make up some lyrics to their songs that had to do with the company.  We also had a FANTASTIC guest speaker, Kris Belcher.  She travels a lot doing motivational speaking, and was phenomenal.  I laughed so hard that I was crying
