We celebrated Easter with the Tates and Marmie and Grandpa.  It was a fun and uplifting weekend with General Conference, Easter, April Fool’s Day, and family.  I tricked the kids with brussel sprouts dipped in chocolate to look like cake pops for April Fool’s Day and it was really fun :).  General Conference was very special with the calling of a new prophet, President Nelson.   I remember President Monson being called when I was on my mission in Toronto and the chance to make flyers and invite anyone and everyone on buses and street corners to come hear the living prophet speak.   It was one of the few times we stood on a street corner talking to people, but we did it as a zone or district or mission for a few hours—everybody at once.   I felt like the missionaries of old standing on a soap box sharing the good news of the gospel.   Anyway, I digress…I remember listening to President Monson speak as a prophet for the very first time. ...

March - Aquariums and Art Contests

Taddy Boy turned 2 and we celebrated at the aquarium (thanks, Grandma and Grandpa Sweeny!).   Alexa wanted to hand-make his gift and because he loves coloring (a LOT), she made him his very own coloring book.   She put paper together on her own, stapled it, and added a cover.   She often picks gifts she wants to give to others (so she can end up with them), so this was a break through and very thoughtful and sweet.   The perfect gift for her little brother who loves to draw and color.   When Liam was born I would just plop Tad next to me with a notebook and pen and he would color forever.   It would always surprise me how long it kept him entertained as a little 19-month old.   He can draw fishies, sharkies, and bubbles for a long time.   We gave him a box of fruit snacks, yay for 2 year-olds who love fruit snacks and cardboard boxes and need nothing else to be happy.  He will put himself in his crib at night doing some ...
