Granny

We didn't pass out any Christmas gifts to friends, neighbors, or teachers this year.  Great intentions were taken over by time with Granny during her final weeks and the family who came to say goodbye.  Our wonderful Granny passed away on December 14 a couple of weeks after being hospitalized for a urinary infection, high blood pressure, minor pneumonia from fluid in her lungs, and later what they thought was a small stroke that took away her ability to eat and speak for the most part.  She was taken home from the hospital on hospice care.  We were grateful to be able to visit her in the hospital and hold her hand, as well as visit every couple of days at her home for the coming weeks.  We were on our way to her house when she passed away and were told that we got there 7 minutes after she died.  I know she was ready to go and it was what she wanted, but I will miss her greatly.  Whenever anyone asked who I wanted to be like when I grew up I always sai...

November 2015 - haircuts and turkey

We had a fun visit with Grandma Sweeny in Utah.  Alexa went around Granny's house practicing her photography skills while we played together.  Here is a picture she took of Granny Gran on my phone. Alexa's big news this month is that she cut her hair!  Ahhh!  It has taken almost 5 years to get hair to her shoulders, so maybe it will grow back out by the time she's 10.  The best part is that she would stop and admire herself in the mirror or any reflection she found afterwards--just stroking her short hair and smiling.  So much for it being a bad thing that scarred her to the point of never doing it again!  It has set in now that she can't have "Elsa braids" and she says that she misses her long hair.   Here is her "I'm in trouble and just got caught face" that Kyle texted to me at work, in the middle of her haircut, and the after picture holding a drawing she did of our familia. Someone at church said to me that the haircut is s...

October 2015 - weddings, babies, hospitals, and spooky ghosts

The beginning of October was busy getting ready for Craig and Chelsea's wedding on the 15th.  We found a little park a block away from the Payson Temple for all of the cousins to play at during the sealing with a couple of Young Women.  We had a luncheon at our chapel afterwards and had the reception at Peggy and Paul's that evening.  The reception was beautiful--I loved the outdoor music, lights, and overall ambiance.  They did street tacos, Mexican hot chocolate, and s'mores.  Three people asked to move in with us at the reception now that Craig had officially moved out that morning :).  Ha. The cousins looked adorable in their matching outfits and we are so happy for Craig and Chelsea--love them both!  Although the kids keep crying for Craig and saying how much they miss him, even now almost a month later.  Tyler cried for Craig the night he went to the emergency room later in the month.  During the reception, I laughed because Alexa roa...
