September 2016 - yellow belt and glasses

We said goodbye to our missionary grandparents on their way to the field!  Seattle is so lucky to have them for the next 12 months!

We had some great cousin time this month.  Alexa loved being a big sister to Dean for a couple of days while Todd and Melissa went to Comic Con.  And Dean and Tyler were total buddies and hung out together all day.  We had a fun Luna day while Sara and Jason tried to go to the temple, only discovering that they were all closed for the women's broadcast.

We started Labor Day off right with a big potluck breakfast at a park in Riverton.  Then we had a relaxing afternoon at Peggy's and ended the day with a hike at Donut Falls.

I couldn't leave out this hilarious video from a family bowling night.  The kids love bowling and get so excited after they knock any pins down.

Tyler had his yellow belt test for tae kwon do.  I thought they would do a fake, thin piece of wood for the little guys but he broke the same board that the 16 year-old black belt students broke!  The black belts just have to jump over a person and spin while breaking the board in the middle of the air, so it's more complicated.  I was seriously impressed that my little 3 year-old broke a board in half.  And it was fun to see the other belt tests and the stunt team performance.

Kyle has joined the ranks and now needs glasses!  I guess he's a late bloomer.

Tad is now 6 months old.  He is still really long at 29in and hasn't dropped below 99th percentile in height since he was born. He has two teeth and he loves to smile, squeal, drool, take baths, and play with his brother and sister. He sits up and finally holds his own bottle. In his defense, his bottles are big and heavy because he drinks so much milk. Because he's huge! He is such a joy. We love our baby boy.

Alexa and Tyler drew a cute picture of him in chalk on the driveway :).

We sure love our silly family.

Family Home Evening gems:
Tyler was teaching a Family Home Evening lesson and said Heavenly Father and Jesus have a nose and eyes and a mouth just like us and boogers just like this one (proceeds to pull one out and show us).

Kyle: What does it mean to be kind?
Alexa: To say hi, how are you, I like you, and then give a hug.

Alexa to Tyler: Como estas?
Tyler: De nada

stairs and a silly little girl....

I forgot to mention a few August updates in my last post, and have some more Alexa stories (as always)...First, Kyle (with the help of Uncle Paul and Todd--thank you!!) finished the stairs and they look awesome!!  He completely rebuilt them (ripped them down all the way to the drywall). Second, both Kyle and I were supposed to be in this work athletic competition in August, but I had to back out for obvious reasons.  Kyle still did the tennis and basketball tournaments and made me oh so proud.  He even got this funny little basketball trophy for taking third place.  The other tournaments that week included horseshoes, ping pong, foosball, golf, Wii dance, volleyball, and a triathlon. We went to Ikea for breakfast last Saturday (so delicious and cheap!) and bought Alexa a stuffed puppy while we were there.  She now takes it everywhere continuously saying "puppy, puppy, puppy!"  Speaking of the puppy, she even dragged it through toilet water l...

Good news!

I'm excited to announce that we went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and I now have all my privileges reinstated!! Tear is healed and baby looks good, so we are very grateful.  As promised, I took Alexa to the park to celebrate.  We went swinging and ran around looking for flowers (dandelions). She has to stop and touch every flower she finds :). She insisted that her puppy come along. Maybe because she's a lazy bum and wanted to use him as a pillow!! We didn't get any really good ultrasound pictures from the tech (I should have made special requests!), but we saw lots of baby!  This was the ultrasound (20 weeks) where they check every little thing developing - every section of the brain, spine, chambers of the heart, kidneys, diaphragm, fingers, toes, blood flow, placenta, cord, measurements of head and waist (baby is 4 days bigger than the due date), etc. etc.  It's so fascinating to see all of that already developed and so teeny tiny...

April - May 2012

We started out April very busy at work with the Shelf Reliance annual convention up at the Salt Palace.  I stayed up there Thursday morning through Saturday night and ran around making sure things went smoothly with registration, workshops, the AV Team, slide layouts, that the owners actually stopped to eat, etc. etc.  We normally had meetings with the AV Team until 2 in the morning to prep for the next day, and were up early in the morning with the consultants.  It was lots of fun!  The executive team even dressed up as an 80’s band for the final group session and performed some Bon Jovi and Air Supply.  They were in a band together in college, so I think this was like a dream come true.  Luckily, I was fortunate enough to use my amazing musical talent to help make up some lyrics to their songs that had to do with the company.  We also had a FANTASTIC guest speaker, Kris Belcher.  She travels a lot doing motivational speaking, and was phenomena...
