Alexa photo shoot

I started this post before Tyler came, so I might as well finish.  It will probably be the last Alexa-only focused post!

Malori did an Alexa photo shoot just before Christmas, and here are some of the fun pictures she took.

I think I’ve mentioned before that Alexa loves praying, and has recently starting helping us say them all the time.  A normal prayer goes something like this with Alexa saying or repeating the underlined parts: “Heavenly Father, thank you for this lunch (insert whatever food and she’ll say it).  Bless us to be healthy and strong. Thank you for mommy and daddy. We love you.  In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”  And then she claps. At lunch today she wanted to say the prayer three times.

She has also just recently started saying her name all the time.  The ‘x’ was a little hard for her before now, but she now calls herself “Alexa!” instead of “baby.”  I was clipping her fingernails this morning so that she doesn’t claw Tyler while trying to constantly give him love, and she totally counted to 10 as we did each finger!  The previous record was 6 I think.

I took her visiting teaching with me last week, and had her sitting next to me coloring.  I looked down, and their dog was eating her crayon!  Eek.  I apologized and said that I hoped we didn’t just kill the dog.  They said the wax would be good for his digestive system and make his poop beautiful J.

We were starting to watch Lord of the Rings as she was drinking her bottle before bed, and Gollum cried at something mean that Sam said to him and she totally started hysterically crying.  Never seen that before.

Last Sunday, I was upstairs doing the dishes and looked down to see Alexa flipping through the Friend.  I thought it was so cute that I took a picture.

We got lots of snow last week, and Alexa really wanted to play in it while I shoveled.  She started shoving handfuls of it in her mouth, though, and I was pretty sure that she was going to die because of the horribly bad inversion that we've had lately. Anyway, she then went all by herself into the garage and got a broom to start helping me clean the driveway :).  Love this girl.

For lunch today, Kyle told Alexa to come upstairs and have some noodles.  Her response: "And bacon?!"  I laughed so hard.  Love this girl.

stairs and a silly little girl....

I forgot to mention a few August updates in my last post, and have some more Alexa stories (as always)...First, Kyle (with the help of Uncle Paul and Todd--thank you!!) finished the stairs and they look awesome!!  He completely rebuilt them (ripped them down all the way to the drywall). Second, both Kyle and I were supposed to be in this work athletic competition in August, but I had to back out for obvious reasons.  Kyle still did the tennis and basketball tournaments and made me oh so proud.  He even got this funny little basketball trophy for taking third place.  The other tournaments that week included horseshoes, ping pong, foosball, golf, Wii dance, volleyball, and a triathlon. We went to Ikea for breakfast last Saturday (so delicious and cheap!) and bought Alexa a stuffed puppy while we were there.  She now takes it everywhere continuously saying "puppy, puppy, puppy!"  Speaking of the puppy, she even dragged it through toilet water l...

Good news!

I'm excited to announce that we went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and I now have all my privileges reinstated!! Tear is healed and baby looks good, so we are very grateful.  As promised, I took Alexa to the park to celebrate.  We went swinging and ran around looking for flowers (dandelions). She has to stop and touch every flower she finds :). She insisted that her puppy come along. Maybe because she's a lazy bum and wanted to use him as a pillow!! We didn't get any really good ultrasound pictures from the tech (I should have made special requests!), but we saw lots of baby!  This was the ultrasound (20 weeks) where they check every little thing developing - every section of the brain, spine, chambers of the heart, kidneys, diaphragm, fingers, toes, blood flow, placenta, cord, measurements of head and waist (baby is 4 days bigger than the due date), etc. etc.  It's so fascinating to see all of that already developed and so teeny tiny...

April - May 2012

We started out April very busy at work with the Shelf Reliance annual convention up at the Salt Palace.  I stayed up there Thursday morning through Saturday night and ran around making sure things went smoothly with registration, workshops, the AV Team, slide layouts, that the owners actually stopped to eat, etc. etc.  We normally had meetings with the AV Team until 2 in the morning to prep for the next day, and were up early in the morning with the consultants.  It was lots of fun!  The executive team even dressed up as an 80’s band for the final group session and performed some Bon Jovi and Air Supply.  They were in a band together in college, so I think this was like a dream come true.  Luckily, I was fortunate enough to use my amazing musical talent to help make up some lyrics to their songs that had to do with the company.  We also had a FANTASTIC guest speaker, Kris Belcher.  She travels a lot doing motivational speaking, and was phenomena...
