February 2022 - Disneyland & a Full House

We kicked off February (and Tyler's birthday) at Disneyland!  Marmie and Grandpa offered to watch Nathan and it was magical to be able to all go on the rides together as a family all day.  Liam was a champ and came on everything, and it was so nice not to have to swap places with big / little kids but instead do everything as a family.  Total game changer.

Tad says his favorite ride was Matterhorn (which he calls the Yeti ride) and Incredicoaster.  Tyler loved Space Mountain, Liam the jumping jellyfish ride, Alexa was torn between Space Mountain and Incredicoaster.  Kyle loved Incredicoaster, Web Slingers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Smugglers Run.  My favorite was Incredicoaster.

The Nilssons let us borrow their double stroller, which kept everyone alive as we sprinted through the park.  It was awesome to go together with the Pardons and their sweet family.  Both sets of grandparents gave our kids Disney money to buy souvenirs or treats, which was really fun for the kids.  Alexa bought a giant llama and peacock stuffed animal, Tyler got a rubber band gun and some oreos, Tad bought a robot spider and adventure explorer kit, and Liam got a Buzz Lightyear and R2D2 toy.  We got some "It's My Birthday" (Tyler) and 1st Visit (Tad, Liam, Nathan) pins.

We had a rest day in between and then hit up California Adventure.  Here are our pictures from CA (Feb 3):

The kids always love swimming at Marmie and Grandpa's and they spoiled us by taking us to get ice cream and out to eat at fun places.

I told the kids I would pay them $5 if they jumped into the freezing cold pool.  Tad and Alexa both accepted the challenge.  Tyler said no way.

We made cupcakes for Tyler's birthday and he got a hoverboard, which he immediately mastered.

For his birthday party when we got home Tyler took some friends to play laser tag.

My cousin Shawnda was in Little Women at the Perry Egyptian Theater and Alexa and I joined 30 Ludlows to watch the show.  Alexa even grabbed the book from the school library so she could read it before the show.

Baby figured out to open the fridge and he was incredibly proud of himself.  He also loves to climb the cat tower for fun.  Pray for us that we will be able to keep him alive.

Utah Transit Association (UTA) was free in February so we celebrated by eating fried chicken in Provo and then riding the train home to Lehi.

Alexa made a cute koala valentine's day box.

Tad's latest obsession is giving us math questions all day.  He is constantly making up questions and asking them to anyone in sight.  He also lost his two front teeth this month!

One of Tyler's Christmas hamsters was killed by our cat while we were at Disneyland :(.  The cat figured out how to open one of the loose latches at the top of the cage.  It's now taped shut and we haven't had issues since.  Tyler was devastated and cried a lot.

Todd, Melissa, Dean, and Lily have officially moved in with us.  Todd and Melissa are living in the office and Alexa moved in with Tyler and Nathan so Dean and Lily could have her room.  It is a FULL house.  It took a few weeks for the kids to get into a rhythm and figure out the new routine.

stairs and a silly little girl....

I forgot to mention a few August updates in my last post, and have some more Alexa stories (as always)...First, Kyle (with the help of Uncle Paul and Todd--thank you!!) finished the stairs and they look awesome!!  He completely rebuilt them (ripped them down all the way to the drywall). Second, both Kyle and I were supposed to be in this work athletic competition in August, but I had to back out for obvious reasons.  Kyle still did the tennis and basketball tournaments and made me oh so proud.  He even got this funny little basketball trophy for taking third place.  The other tournaments that week included horseshoes, ping pong, foosball, golf, Wii dance, volleyball, and a triathlon. We went to Ikea for breakfast last Saturday (so delicious and cheap!) and bought Alexa a stuffed puppy while we were there.  She now takes it everywhere continuously saying "puppy, puppy, puppy!"  Speaking of the puppy, she even dragged it through toilet water l...

Good news!

I'm excited to announce that we went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and I now have all my privileges reinstated!! Tear is healed and baby looks good, so we are very grateful.  As promised, I took Alexa to the park to celebrate.  We went swinging and ran around looking for flowers (dandelions). She has to stop and touch every flower she finds :). She insisted that her puppy come along. Maybe because she's a lazy bum and wanted to use him as a pillow!! We didn't get any really good ultrasound pictures from the tech (I should have made special requests!), but we saw lots of baby!  This was the ultrasound (20 weeks) where they check every little thing developing - every section of the brain, spine, chambers of the heart, kidneys, diaphragm, fingers, toes, blood flow, placenta, cord, measurements of head and waist (baby is 4 days bigger than the due date), etc. etc.  It's so fascinating to see all of that already developed and so teeny tiny...

April - May 2012

We started out April very busy at work with the Shelf Reliance annual convention up at the Salt Palace.  I stayed up there Thursday morning through Saturday night and ran around making sure things went smoothly with registration, workshops, the AV Team, slide layouts, that the owners actually stopped to eat, etc. etc.  We normally had meetings with the AV Team until 2 in the morning to prep for the next day, and were up early in the morning with the consultants.  It was lots of fun!  The executive team even dressed up as an 80’s band for the final group session and performed some Bon Jovi and Air Supply.  They were in a band together in college, so I think this was like a dream come true.  Luckily, I was fortunate enough to use my amazing musical talent to help make up some lyrics to their songs that had to do with the company.  We also had a FANTASTIC guest speaker, Kris Belcher.  She travels a lot doing motivational speaking, and was phenomena...
