We did one last summer hurrah and ran off to California to play. Kyle went a few days early with the kids and I flew out to meet them there. We hit up San Diego Zoo, Legoland, SeaWorld, and the beach. The kids loved the orca, dolphin, and sea lion shows at SeaWorld. They also loved the fact that there were tons of legos to play with while you waited in line for rides at Legoland. Genius. Tyler was scared of the really fast roller coaster at Sea World, but he was super brave and powered through it.

Later in August we went to the Renaissance Festival at Thanksgiving Point. The kids put Kyle in the stocks and threw water balloons at him. They decided he was guilty of...stepping on an ant. And this was his punishment.
These kids are growing up way too fast. Alexa started 3rd grade, Tyler is in 1st, and Tad is over-the-moon-excited about finally going to preschool. The kids switched to a new school because of a boundary change. They were at River Rock Elementary and are now at North Point. We are right in the middle of both, about a mile away from each. They only bus kids who live 1.5 miles+ from public school, so I drop the kids off in the morning and they walk, bike, or scoot home. It’s really fun to have Alexa and Tyler both there full day because they eat lunch and walk home together. They take good care of each other and chat all the way home from school. I love that they are good friends and I hope it lasts.
Random photos:
Tad’s portrait of the kids in our family. Complete with a sunny sky and clouds. Such a talented 3-year old! He drew this in the car while we were driving around in Cali.
Emily forgot an extra diaper for Wesley so we made our own!
Cute boys hopping and chasing each other around the house in milk boxes. It was a riot.
A cute baby holding a cute baby. We can’t get enough of soft, fuzzy baby bunnies.
Each night we try to read with Alexa from her kid-friendly-comic-book scriptures, recently we‘ve been working our way through the Old Testament and started the story of Daniel. She was sounding out the new names given to the boys: “Shadrach... Meshach... A-bandaid”
We did a hike up in Draper and had a great view of the valley.

Funny quotes:
Tyler, during a hike in the mountains: Whoa, I can see China over there!
Tyler: the pool today was 1%! It was so cold!
Me: the temperature was 1%?
Tyler: Yes!
Alexa: No, Tyler. It was negative 0.
