April 2019 - GGpa Swingle

Tyler continues to lose more teeth and left the funniest note for the tooth fairy--

We did a local getaway for Spring Break by renting a room at the Zermatt hotel in Midway for the weekend.  We rode the Heber Creeper, ate at the Train King restaurant, and did lots of swimming.  The train ride was right along the mountains and Deer Creek Reservoir, it was quite lovely.

Apparently our new neighborhood in Lehi does a big carnival every year for Easter.  The entire park was full of games and activities.  They even used to do pony rides until the family with the pony moved away last year.

We made bunny pancakes for breakfast on Easter and celebrated the day at the Tates with an epic Easter egg hunt.  Tad found Aden's special, super-hidden money eggs which made us all laugh.

The kids got fishing poles from Grandma and Grandpa Sweeny for Christmas and we gave them a test run at Salem Pond.  We had no idea what we were doing, so the kids and I watched YouTube videos on how to fish before we left :).  We were there for about 4 hours and the kids loved it.  I was amazed they lasted that long and still wanted to stay longer.

Kyle and Sara drove to Arizona together for Great-Grandpa Swingle's funeral.  The greatest blessing and tender mercy was Uncle Scott's surprise arrival.  It had been almost 20 years since Kyle or his Dad had seen Scott and there were lots of tears shed at the blessing of having the siblings all together.  Grandpa Swingle was surely smiling down from heaven and Grandma Swingle stayed by her baby boy's side all weekend.

We celebrate Granny's birthday every year with extended Sweeny family, this year at Chili's.

Liam started to go to nursery with Tad...and he hates it.  The poor boy screams and cries every week.  This is still the case as I write this post in July.  He calms down a few minutes after he is brutally abandoned, but is not happy about being left there and could care less that Tad is in there with him.

And to end, a picture of a bearded bath baby and cute Tad saying a prayer all by himself in Spanish!

stairs and a silly little girl....

I forgot to mention a few August updates in my last post, and have some more Alexa stories (as always)...First, Kyle (with the help of Uncle Paul and Todd--thank you!!) finished the stairs and they look awesome!!  He completely rebuilt them (ripped them down all the way to the drywall). Second, both Kyle and I were supposed to be in this work athletic competition in August, but I had to back out for obvious reasons.  Kyle still did the tennis and basketball tournaments and made me oh so proud.  He even got this funny little basketball trophy for taking third place.  The other tournaments that week included horseshoes, ping pong, foosball, golf, Wii dance, volleyball, and a triathlon. We went to Ikea for breakfast last Saturday (so delicious and cheap!) and bought Alexa a stuffed puppy while we were there.  She now takes it everywhere continuously saying "puppy, puppy, puppy!"  Speaking of the puppy, she even dragged it through toilet water l...

Good news!

I'm excited to announce that we went to the doctor yesterday for another ultrasound and I now have all my privileges reinstated!! Tear is healed and baby looks good, so we are very grateful.  As promised, I took Alexa to the park to celebrate.  We went swinging and ran around looking for flowers (dandelions). She has to stop and touch every flower she finds :). She insisted that her puppy come along. Maybe because she's a lazy bum and wanted to use him as a pillow!! We didn't get any really good ultrasound pictures from the tech (I should have made special requests!), but we saw lots of baby!  This was the ultrasound (20 weeks) where they check every little thing developing - every section of the brain, spine, chambers of the heart, kidneys, diaphragm, fingers, toes, blood flow, placenta, cord, measurements of head and waist (baby is 4 days bigger than the due date), etc. etc.  It's so fascinating to see all of that already developed and so teeny tiny...

April - May 2012

We started out April very busy at work with the Shelf Reliance annual convention up at the Salt Palace.  I stayed up there Thursday morning through Saturday night and ran around making sure things went smoothly with registration, workshops, the AV Team, slide layouts, that the owners actually stopped to eat, etc. etc.  We normally had meetings with the AV Team until 2 in the morning to prep for the next day, and were up early in the morning with the consultants.  It was lots of fun!  The executive team even dressed up as an 80’s band for the final group session and performed some Bon Jovi and Air Supply.  They were in a band together in college, so I think this was like a dream come true.  Luckily, I was fortunate enough to use my amazing musical talent to help make up some lyrics to their songs that had to do with the company.  We also had a FANTASTIC guest speaker, Kris Belcher.  She travels a lot doing motivational speaking, and was phenomena...
